In the 1/16 challenger finals in Antalya, Romanian Mircea-Alexandru Zhekan will play against Nick Chappell from the USA.
The 33-year-old representative of Romania has been in Antalya for the second month, but at the same time he played exclusively tournaments under the auspices of the ITF. Of course, there are practically no interesting rivals at such tournaments, and therefore Zhekan did not achieve any significant victories, and in general he did not show anything special in Antalya.
The 29-year-old US representative was already in Antalya last week, but he performed unsuccessfully. In the 1/16 finals, Chappell immediately got on Duje Aydukovic from Croatia, who is much stronger on the ground. As a result, Aidukovich turned out to be stronger in three sets, but Chappell was able to impose a good fight – 4:6; 7:5; 5:7.
Nick Chappell is almost three hundred positions higher in the ATP ranking, which is still a serious factor. Yes, Zhekan has been in Turkey for a long time and knows the local clay courts well, but still Chappell's match with Aydukovich last week also showed that he is ready to fight much more serious rivals, and the US representative should beat tennis players of Zhekan's level.
