In the 1/16 finals at the Kremlin Cup, Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin will fight Adrian Mannarino from France.
The 24-year-old Russian tennis player is now in fairly average shape. At the end of September, Safiullin took part in the Challenger, which took place in Orleans. In the 1/16 finals, Roman beat Ernest Gulbis from Latvia in two sets – 6:3; 6:2. But already in the 1/8 finals, a defeat from Frenchman Corentin Moute followed – 4:6; 6:2; 6:7 (7:9). Then Safiullin went to the tournament in Mouillon-le-Captif, but there was already a defeat from Norbert Gambos at the stage of the 1/16 finals, but it is worth noting that the Slovak eventually reached the final of this Challenger. And the match of Safiullin and Gambosh ended in two sets – 4:6; 5:7.
The 33-year-old representative of France likes to come to Russia, where he sometimes manages to show good results. But now Mannarino also has problems with form. At the end of September, at the tournament in Sofia, Adrian already lost to Gianluca Mager from Italy at the stage of the 1/16 finals – 3:6; 2:6. In early October, Mannarino went to Indian Wells, but he also lost in the first round in the USA. This time Adrian was beaten in two sets by the representative of Great Britain Andy Murray – 6:3; 6:2.
It is difficult to look for a favorite in this match, his experience speaks in favor of Adrian Mannarino, but Roman Safiullin has also reached the age where you need to start outplaying such rivals in order to continue progressing, and not just be an eternal participant in the Challenges. Let's hope that Roman will be able to show a good game on the home court and beat the Frenchman.
