Benjamin Bonzi and Karen Khachanov will meet in the 1/16 final of the ATP Lyon. Does the Frenchman have a chance?
The extreme result of Benjamin Bonzi turned out to be negative - he lost in the first match in the Challenger, which was held in Zagreb (0-2 from Tabilo). However, I was not very upset about this, as I had previously achieved my second trophy of the season - I managed to win the final with Olivo with a score of 2: 0 in the Challenger, held in Ostrava, in the Czech Republic. Benjamin won his first trophy in mid-February, beating Brody 2-0 at the Challenger in South Africa.
The 26th racket of the world is still unable to find her game, having recently faced only negative results. At the three extreme tournaments, Karen failed to pass even the first round, crashing out of the championships in Madrid, Barcelona and Rome. Before that, the performances were also very modest: he passed one round, and then crashed out in the second-this was observed in four tournaments in a row. The previous tournament in which Khachanov went beyond the second round was the ATP Rotterdam-relegation in the quarterfinals after losing to Tsitsipas (1-2).
Statistics and figures:
- Benjamin Bonzi has won in five of his last six matches;
- Karen Khachanov lost in the first three matches at the previous three tournaments;
- Bonzi and Khachanov had never met before.
It's time for Karen to break the depressing series and overcome the first round, which in extreme games has become a stumbling block.
