In the 1/8 finals of the clay tournament in Santa Cruz, Peruvian Nicolas Alvarez will play against Zdenek Kolar from the Czech Republic.
Zdenek Kolar
Yesterday in the 1/16 finals, the 25-year-old Kolar had a difficult match against Gonzalo Villanueva, but this was to be expected. Zdenek nevertheless confirmed the status of the favorite and was able to win in three games. The tennis players started the match fairly smoothly, Kolar got the first chance to make a break, it was with the score 2:2, but Zdenek missed his chance. After that, the Czech held his serve, and then he still made a break. Alas, Zdenek's joy was short-lived, then he immediately lost the game on his serve. As a result , the tennis players came to the score of 4:4. At the end of the first set, Kolar almost did not allow Villanueva to take the game, but still the Czech again held serve, and in the end did not bring the matter to a tie-break and made the score 7:5 in his favor. Kolar's second set didn't work out right away, Zdenek lost the opening game on his serve and let things take their course, as a result Villanueva took the game with a score of 6:4. But the third set, which was decisive, Zdenek spent already at maximum concentration and eventually won it very confidently - 6:2.
Nicholas Alvarez
25-year-old Alvarez, in turn, also met our expectations. In the match of the 1/16 finals, which was yesterday, the Peruvian achieved a two-set victory over Diego Hidalgo from Ecuador, but the match as a whole turned out to be extremely difficult. The Peruvian was able to win the first set fairly confidently with a score of 6:3. But Alvarez's second set was already much more intense. At the same time, Nicholas quickly made a break and led 3-1 in games, but at some point the Peruvian lost control of the game a little and allowed Hidalgo to recoup, the score became 4:4. After that, the tennis players confidently held their serve almost to the very end of the game, but Alvarez still decided not to play a tie-break, Nicholas, with the score 6:5 in his favor, managed to make another break and eventually close the game in his favor.
Forecast
Zdenek Kolar is considered a deserved favorite in this match, even if the Czech's last match was not the easiest, but here he may well win in two sets.
