Barnsley and Swansea will meet in the first leg of the 1/2 final of the English Championship play-offs. Whose side will the luck be on?
Barnsley had a good season, managing to finish the regular season in fifth place. Before the start of the season, the team was predicted, at best, a place in the middle of the standings, but the "mongrels" were able to make a breakthrough that allows them to be two steps away from the Premier League. Barnsley ended the season with a defeat and a draw, but this is not a failure, since the club was no longer particularly motivated, and a place in the play-off zone did not raise questions.
"Swans" are pragmatic: they do not score much, but also concede at the level of the leaders of the Championship, who made their way to the Premier League directly. Swansea slowed down in the final stretch of the championship, as a result of which they won only one victory in five rounds. In addition to her, the Swans lost twice and drew the same number of times. The loss in the last round was surprising, as it happened in the confrontation with Watford ,who guaranteed themselves second place and had no motivation, but scored two unanswered goals. "Swansea" tried to correct the situation-created dangerous moments, hit a lot on goal, but even failed to soak the score.
Injuries and disqualifications:
- Kane, Williams (injuries) - Barnsley. Benda, Rushesha (injuries), Morris (knee injury) - Swansea.
Statistics and figures:
- Barnsley have not won in the last two games;
- Swansea have won one of their last five games;
- During the regular season, Swansea beat Barnsley twice, both times 2-0.
"Swansea" modestly spent the end of the season, but "Barnsley" did not please the fans with victories. In the face-to-face battles, the swans looked much better, and I don't think the trend will change. My bet is that the guests won't lose.
