Сборная Коморов является в некотором роде уникальной командой. Из всех игроков, которые выступят на КАНе, лишь двое родились на территории этого государства, ещё трое – на соседней Майотте. Все остальные же появились на свет во Франции. Футболисты сборной по большей части выступают именно в этой стране своего рождения, при этом никто не играет на уровне Лиги 1.

Тренирует сборную Коморов Амир Абду. Попадание на Кубок Африки – это во многом заслуга 49-летнего француза. Абду возглавил «целакантов» в 2014 году и вот теперь добился с командой исторического успеха.

Путёвку в Камерун сборная обеспечила себе за тур до конца отборочного турнира, став недостижимой для Кении и Того. В последнем туре «целаканты» крупно уступили Египту и стали вторыми в квартете. Вряд ли стоит ждать, что сборная Коморов сумеет пробиться в плей-офф КАНа, так как команда попала в одну из самых сложных групп. Соперниками будут Габон, Гана и Марокко.

Сборная Коморов – это дебютант Кубка Африки. Интересно, что местная федерация футбола стала членом ФИФА лишь в 2005 году.
